Our values

There is no singular definition of Freemasonry. Freemasonry is many different things to each man who joins the fraternity. For some it is a place to make friends and acquaintances. For others it is a place to engage in introspection or discuss philosophy. And, for others it is a place to practice charity and goodwill. Through each of these endeavors—and countless more—Freemasonry seeks to unite good men of all backgrounds and make them better husbands, fathers, and citizens by encouraging and cultivating friendship, morality, and brotherly love.

Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organization. It teaches self-knowledge through participation in a progression of initiatic rites. Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are encouraged to speak openly about Freemasonry.

Freemasonry is a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught its principles (moral lessons and self-knowledge) by a series of ritual dramas—a progression of allegorical “degrees” which are learned by heart and performed within each Lodge— which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons’ customs and tools as allegorical guides.

Freemasonry instills in its members a moral and ethical approach to life: its values are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Members are urged to regard the interests of the family as paramount but, importantly, Freemasonry also teaches concern for people, care for the less fortunate, and help for those in need.

Message from the Grand Master

To you, my SISTARS of The New York Grand Chapter. The representatives of the rays of the beautiful star and from whom comes the most charming, the most prophetic and the most instructive lessons of the Old and New Testaments. May you always through an air of beauty and solemnity around all that you bring thousands to worship Him.” This has been the charge as bona fide members of the Order of Eastern Stars since 1800’s. The officers are admonished to wear the Rosettes with dignity keeping ever before them the memory of the five Heroines: Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha and Electa.  May the All Seeing Eye, whom the Sun, Moon and Stars obey ever watch over you.  May he keep and protect you in your effort to promote interests in the general good of your Grand Chapter.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

To my brethren whom I most humbly serve, I’m honored to hold the office of Grand Master working for such a great group of men.   Let GOD strengthen me and guide us all in our undertakings as we forge forward to grow spiritually and expand our territory to aid in our effort to relieve the destitute, uplift the downtrodden, and bring smiles of joy and tears of happiness to the hopeless.  From this day forward, we shall be a unified front through the application of our commitment to our mission and displaying perseverance in the pursuit of our undertakings.

The beehive is one of the symbols representing how we should work together as Masons.  Industry is the esoteric meaning underlying the presence of that symbol in our order.  Although bees seem like menial insects, they are an integral part of our wellbeing.  The trees cannot produce the bounty on their own, they need bees to move pollen from one tree to another, fertilizing the blooms of all trees on earth.  A big job for a small creature.  Our job is just as big and important.  Our communities are in need of services that we as an organization have to provide.  Faith, hope, and charity are represented on the rungs of Jacobs ladder and should be exemplified by our organization through our great works and leadership in our communities.  Our mission shall be carried out with the tenacity of the great river that runs through Egypt, and with the blessings and favor of the Creator we will succeed in our mission.  Remember Prudence, Justice, Temperance and Fortitude are the cardinal virtues that will ensure the development of your impeccable character.  Let these virtues be the catalyst that propels you into a state of excellence impenetrable by any force that presents a wedge between you and your CRAFT.  Selfless service is the labor that must be carried out to receive your master’s wages.  Your payment transcends the flesh, and is manifested in the spirit.

Brotherly love is the cement that will fortify the foundation that our great Grand Lodge was built upon and will allow us to continue to realize the drawings upon which we place on our trestle boards.  I pray that you continue to work with zeal, study with fervor, pray with determination, and live by way of the spirit so you do not succumb to the cravings of the flesh.  Practice your CRAFT and become adept in the use of your working tools to enhance the temple that the CREATOR has so graciously provided you.  From labor to refreshment from refreshment to labor is the ebb and flow that will sail us to success.

Become a Freemason

There are many personal benefits to becoming a Mason, and the rewards can be different for each person. But all Masons share a common goal: to become a better man.

Men age 18 and older who believe in a Supreme Being and meet the qualifications and standards for membership are eligible to petition a Lodge. We welcome men of every country, religion, race, age, income, education, and opinion.

Freemasonry requires that a man cannot be compelled to join our Fraternity and that he must seek admission based on his “own free will and accord.” Therefore, he must ask a member to sponsor his application.

The process for becoming a Mason is managed at the Lodge level. The first step towards joining is to contact a lodge that you would like to have consider you for membership.

The Freemasons help men to be the best possible versions of ourselves, and make connections with men who share the same values.

If you’re ready to find more, fill out the information below and a Brother from your closest lodge will contact you shortly.
